Full Time Unpaid Internship
Fall Internship - Production Media Library and Archives (Smithsonian Channel - Washington DC office)
The Fall Intern will engage in the various tasks of a production-based media library & archives, including cataloging, processing digital media files, researching rights, and providing reference services to support productions. The intern will work closely with the library and archives staff and obtain hands on experience with numerous digital media formats and in-house database. There will be opportunities to observe and engage with the process of documentary film production.
Specific responsibilities:
• catalog raw footage, edited programs, and/or other media assets
• QC master digital files and create access copies
• conduct footage research and/or archival research for productions, using in-house and external databases
• research and fact check scripts
• migrate files in legacy or proprietary digital formats to archival formats
Qualifications:
Must have/be:
• a rising junior or senior in college
• proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Mac OS)
• demonstrated interest in non-fiction programming and production
• must be a go-getter who is able to multi-task
• excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• PREFERRED: graduate level coursework in Library/Information Sciences
• Familiarity with Production a plus
