Full Time Paid Internship
Fall Intern- Editorial (Smithsonian Channel -Nyc)
The internship will focus on writing and content strategy for a number of our digital platforms. The intern will learn the ways we at Smithsonian Channel get people to click, watch and share our videos and use our apps and sites. Whether it's helping us refine the headline and SEO tricks we employ to make videos go viral on YouTube or brainstorming ideas for the next niche playlist that will shine on Roku, the intern will be required to think about the way they (and our audience) interacts with all kinds of content on different platforms. They'll be involved in meetings that focus on everything from web design and user experience to interpreting and acting upon analytics to make smarter content decisions.
This intern will be involved and responsible for, but not limited to, the following projects:
• Writing and rethinking video and digital asset copy
• Brainstorming new content ideas tied to premieres of all priorities
• Learning how to report on analytics and draw conclusions from them that inform content strategy
• Competitive analysis of competitor sites, videos, apps, and newsletters
• Assist in scheduling for digital editorial platforms
• Assist in QA of site, apps, and connected TV devices
• Participate in all editorial brainstorming efforts
• Write titles, descriptions, and keyword for out-of-date video clips
• Misc. urgent task as they arise
Qualifications:
Required:
• Current undergraduate student (rising junior or above)
• Interest in the Cable/Entertainment Industry
• 2.5 GPA or above
• Submission of cover letter- required
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work at least 35 hours/week for 8 weeks from 6/12-8/4
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to provide administrative suppose as needed
Preferred:
• Strong writing skills
• Familiarity with Google Products
• Knowledge and understanding of digital marketing strategies
• Cable television experience a plus
• Active participation in extracurricular activities; clubs; and/or associations. Leadership positions while maintaining an above average GPA, a plus
• Prior internship experience in a related field, a plus
