Smashing Young Lad & Co. is looking for hip, credible, music lovers to write about various music content pieces each month for a major youth-lifestyle clothing retailer?s new music website. Stories will range from album reviews to show/festival coverage and will require travel. All interested bloggers must submit a writing sample based on any one of the following scenarios (use your imagination):

- Artist interview
- Acoustic performance
- Exclusive download
- Album review
- Road trip (3 days on tour with band)
- Festival coverage
- Studio documentary
- Industry news

All posts are to be written from the perspective of the brand. This brand?s voice can be summed up by:

Demographic: 16-24 y/o in pop culture, lifestyle, fashion
Tone: energetic, optimistic, open-minded, curious, fun
Behavior: instigator of fun, explorer of style, creator of culture

Responsibilities
- Work with content coordinator to seek out and accept assigned story ideas
- Write and submit approximately 3 posts per month (each post approx. 100 ? 300 words)
- Stay current on what?s going in the world of music

Qualifications
- Passion for all things music (eg music = life)
- Authenticity / credibility is absolutely key!
- Desire to spread the word about great new bands
- Extensive knowledge of the indie/progressive music landscape
- Experience managing a music blog is a definite plus
- Excellent spelling and grammar
- Ability to work within deadlines
- Willing to travel/must have transportation

Candidate should have knowledge and passion for bands within the following genres:

Brand-Filtered Mainstream
• Ie: Phoenix, MGMT, Kings of Leon, Neon Trees, Vampire Weekend

Indie Rock
- Ie: Mumford & Sons, Two Door Cinema Club, Ra Ra Riot, Rogue Wave

Surf Rock
- Ie: Wavves, Best Coast, Surfer Blood, The Japanese Motors

Progressive Rock
- Ie: Circa Survive, The Gaslight Anthem, Minus the Bear, Manchester Orchestra

Urban
- Ie: Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Janelle Monae, Bad Rabbits, P.O.S.
