Shout! Factory is seeking a Coordinator, Business and Legal Affairs. What do we do? We release an array of nostalgic TV shows, cult and popular films, animation, and classic and contemporary music on DVD, Blu-ray, television, and a wide array of digital distribution outlets. In the last year the company has expanded into original production (films and television) too. Why join us? We value creativity, hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. We all work very hard to uphold our company's core values day to day - in our interactions with each other, with our partners and with our fans.
The Coordinator is the hub of this department of five. This support position tracks ongoing negotiations, manages the flow of contracts and maintains the internal filing systems while providing administrative support as needed. The candidate will work with a wide variety of contracts, pulling material information from them to enter into our rights management system. Are you a good fit? You must be a highly organized worker with a keen eye for detail and have excellent communication skills and follow-through abilities. What does that mean? The job is a busy one because the department is a busy one. You won't be dropped in the deep end - you will be trained and encouraged to ask questions along the way. Because we are a relatively small sized company (65+ employees) you'll be interacting with all levels of staff.
What else do you need to know? The position is a full time, non-exempt, hourly position. It reports to the Director, Business and Legal Affairs. We're looking to fill the role as soon as humanly possible!
Responsibilities:
• Track deals from offer stage to fully-executed document.
• Enter, monitor and update the information in our rights management database (FilmTrack).
• Coordinate all contract administration; tracking information and ensuring all actions taken and parties paid; liaising with Accounting and Royalties to ensure timely payments are made; enter payment requests into the accounting system (NetSuite).
• Create and submit invoice requests to Accounting for 3rd party licensing deals; contact record labels and/or music publishing entities to receive and process all music licensing payments due in the accounting system.
• Respond to BA related inquiries via the website; and other administrative duties as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
• At least 2+ years of working experience in an admin support role (including internships) is preferred; experience in entertainment or a similar industry is also preferred.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs; must have experience entering data with a high level of accuracy.
• Must be highly organized with an outstanding attention to detail.
• Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to relay information to all levels of personnel both inside and outside the company.
• Prior experience reading contracts to find rights information is preferred (drafting experience is not necessary in this role).
• Experience working in FilmTrack or some other rights management database is preferred, but not required.
