Creates and develops new original programming for brand. Manages all aspects of original commissioned productions. Evaluates shows and episode treatments, scripts, music, rough cuts and fine cuts to make sure they meet brand specifications for look and feel and up to production standards. Identifies and develops new talent. Maintains and evolves ongoing series.
Job Description:
Scripps Networks Interactive is actively seeking a Vice President of Programming, Food Network, Travel Channel, Cooking Channel.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY
• Supervise a team of programmers. Responsible for managing their daily workload, schedule, career growth, training and development as well as their annual review.
• Will be expected to share ideas and contribute to the strategic vision and direction of the network. Must always think through the big picture when managing the production process. Will be held accountable for exploring the possibilities for each show managed (i.e. platform opportunities, talent, potential of project to become an event or series, etc.)
• Participate in establishing budgets and concluding production agreements with program suppliers.
• Manage the programming team's process including all phases of development, pre-production, production, post-production and final delivery on original, co-production and reversion projects.
• Management of multiple programmers and outside production companies on multiple series and specials simultaneously, and in coordination with internal departments to ensure timely production and delivery of programming.
• Adherence to and accountability for all aspects of networks' editorial, budgetary and production standards, as well as contractual and deliverables requirements.
• Act as network representative to outside organizations and responsible for maintaining relationships with external vendors and clients.
YOU
• Bachelor's degree in a directly related field or equivalent experience and 10 years of experience creating and overseeing programming for television, including the management of people
• Knowledge of brand specific lifestyle programming and popular culture related to television programming
• A demonstrated track record of creative and ratings success in the development and execution of multiple series
• Knowledge of the cable television market, demographics and competitive programming
• Knowledge of accounting related to production budget preparation and maintenance
• Ability to initiate and maintain effective professional relationships internally and externally
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to manage the work of others
• Ability to work independently
• Critical thinking and logical reasoning skills
