Job Description:
Scripps Networks Interactive is actively seeking a Public Relations Assistant in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience working in entertainment Public Relations, preferably at an agency or a television network.
This position requires a highly organized and energetic self-starter who is interested in television publicity. General responsibilities include assisting the PR team across all initiatives. Below is a list of general duties, but not limited to this list.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support team in developing, planning and executing PR campaigns for series, specials, promotions and events
• Develop press materials to including, press releases, Talent bios and show descriptions
• Write weekly ''press hits'' emails and media appearance notices
• Assist in the daily monitoring of media stories and placements
• Manage asset requirements of PR agency partner (i.e. screeners, show clips, images/artwork, etc.) for program priorities and Talent appearances
• Secure and manage New York-based PR interns
• Assist in organizing meetings by booking conference rooms, ordering catering, etc.
• Support the PR team's administrative needs.
• Coordinate departmental meetings and act as liaison between internal departments.
• Assist with Press Events, including run-of-show, vendor agreements, premium orders, catering and talent management.
• Build/update entertainment and trade media lists containing contacts for trade, print, radio, TV, online, bloggers and special interest.
• Gather information (time codes etc.) for clip requests.
• Work with PR team to facilitate photography requests for highlights and media placements.
• Manage all building requests and occasionally act as Office Assistant for visiting executives.
Education
& Experience:
• BS/BA in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related field preferred and 1 years professional work experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of the TV, Entertainment and Lifestyle industries a plus
• Critical thinking and active listening a must
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to be resourceful and find quick and effective solutions on your own is a plus
• Must be able to work collaboratively with team members
• Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
• Keep others informed of workload, timeline, and resources needed to accomplish tasks
