Scripps Networks Interactive, the leader in lifestyle media with top brands such as HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel, is searching for a Network Architect.
The Infrastructure & Cloud Services department is sharply focused on supporting Scripps Networks to enable the worldwide delivery of leading lifestyle media through innovative solutions incorporating reliable services and efficient technologies. In support of this mission, the architecture team designs, builds, and deliver technology solutions in a very collaborative environment. The Network Architect position will be responsible to define and manage processes, analytics and visibility for the delivering implemented and new network services to company.
Job Description:
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Identifying and evaluating emerging network technologies that can be incorporated to meet business objectives
• Define and enforce standards/design patterns to ensure compatibility and integration in both on-premise and cloud environments
• Responsible for the complete process of network infrastructure design, including analysis, security, and configuration
• Lead the design, and implementation of cutting-edge, multi-vendor data connectivity solutions to support Scripps Networks' growth worldwide
• Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems
• Map discoveries back to the business and solve internal pain points, communicating information back to upper management
• Broadly disseminate information regarding new technological developments
• Build and maintain relationships across departments
• Promote sound fiscal management
• Demonstrate broad knowledge of technology principles, practices, and procedures
• As a technical expert, provide guidance and makes decisions on changes required throughout the design process
• Lead strategic projects to assure that network solutions that meet business objectives, are secure, reliable, meet service levels, and are recoverable.
• Remain sufficiently flexible to pursue aggressive development and expansion of new services
• Provide insight into existing services by contributing to a transparent and structured taxonomy
• Development of a structured, standardized, and consolidated set of services that optimally support business processes and applications
Qualifications
• Advanced understanding of network infrastructure technologies
• Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
• Expertise in a majority of the following technologies and protocols: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, SIP, RTP, IP, TCP (internals and flow control), UDP, DNS, DHCP, DWDM, SONET, T1/E1, Ethernet, IPv6, VPNs, firewalls, wireless, & IT security best practices
• Experience with delivering network features opposed to simple network administration.
• Managed services experience creating, managing, and delivering
• Experience with IT transformation - data center consolidations and migration
• Knowledge of architecture and service models (TOGAF, SOA)
• ITIL (foundational level, but exposure to more detail than foundation is often necessary)
• Consulting skills - able to communicate ideas, design solutions, and market them across the company
• Understanding of the need for governance, risk, security, and compliance
• Product (service) management skills
• Public cloud provider experience (AWS, Azure, Google), specifically around network design in the cloud environment
• Virtualization knowledge (at least VCP level or commensurate)
• Preferred: Cisco certifications such as CCNP; CCIE; CCNA; etc
Education
/Experience
• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree; MS preferred
• Minimum 8 years of overall networking experience, Minimum of 5 years in network technology leadership role
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) services and solutions
• In depth knowledge of infrastructure network architecture
• Strong organizational, task, and project management skills
• Self-motivated and able to work across diverse technical and non-technical team
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
