Job Description:
Scripps Networks Interactive, the leader in lifestyle media with top brands such as HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel, is on the hunt for our next amazing Food Stylist to manage food production and creatively style delicious meals for our Food Network brand through our TV shows to print, social, video and more. Joining us at our offices in Chelsea Market in New York, New York, this jack of all trades will not only work on set helping create delicious eats for our shows, but do a little recipe development on the side as well as be on camera during our Facebook live and Snapchat shoots.
Your Opportunity
• Manage culinary aspects of production, including pre-production meetings, assessing recipes and breakdowns, creating detailed shopping lists, and ensuring that all info is shared.
• Manage prep crews, both in-house and on location. (fulltime stylists, freelance cooks, & interns)
• Manage kitchens and food for location shoots as well as food production and styling for Print, Social, Video, Film, Set Dressing, or Kitchen Dressing.
• Develop, test and evaluate original clean recipes in the style of Food Network Kitchens for Food Network Magazine, Cookbooks, Ad Sales, Digital (Food Network & Cooking Channel websites and social media)
• Prep food for shows, and photo shoots. (This may be in-house or on location) & multiple Digital outlets like Facebook, Facebook Live, YouTube and Snapchat
• Prepare food for numerous catered events for Ad Sales, Affiliate Sales, Marketing, Press, Corporate and other ''clients.''
• Keep current with industry and food trends and culinary research
Something to note:
Although we try to stick to the 8 hour work schedule, sometimes our work extends into evenings and holidays. This role is also PERFECT for those who like to travel as you'd likely spend several weeks, or longer, away from our NYC studio and on set for one of our TV shows. Don't worry though, one of our core values is Work/Life Balance and we totally get that work is only one part of your life.
You
• You have 5 years of experience in culinary and food handling, preparation and cooking procedures have a culinary degree
• You're a creative master at cooking and baking techniques and have strong knowledge of numerous ethnic cuisines and food products.
• You have that knack at anticipating and accommodating needs, requests and issues
• You shine with a 'can do' positive attitude and love collaborating with multiple partners
• You have impeccable organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and make sure to always dot your 'i's and cross your 't's
• You monitor timelines and adjust your work as needed, prioritizing the most important pieces to achieve incredible success.
• You're a multi-tasker and professional who keeps it together and keeps rolling along even when things get tough.
• You have excellent communication and follow-up skills and are capable of working on multiple projects in various stages of production
• You get exhilarated working with talent on a show set and don't mind traveling or standing for longer periods.
• You're comfortable serving as talent yourself and being on camera for social media shoots.
