Director, Global Compensation Programs and Processes

Scripps Networks Interactive's (SNI) growth strategy will continue to place an even greater emphasis on expanding the business. The Director, Global Compensation Programs and Processes will play an important part in this expansion by partnering with HR practitioners and SNI business leaders to help them achieve executive and broad-based compensation objectives. As the company grows, the successful placement may have opportunities to expand into other areas of responsibility.
This senior level role will be responsible for directing the strategic planning, design, implementation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, communication, and administration of all enterprise wide compensation programs – both executive and broad-based - consistent with the organization's human capital objectives. In support of these efforts, the successful candidate will be responsible for motivating, developing, and directing a small team.
What Will You Be Doing?
• Designing, managing and administering SNI compensation programs including but not limited to executive, broad-based, short-term incentive/bonus and equity plans.
• Analyzing company compensation policies and recommending changes as appropriate to maintain competitive pay rates and ensure equity across SNI jobs.
• Partnering with the SVP, Compensation and Benefits and other team members to review and analyze compensation programs to ensure statutory compliance and market competitiveness.
• Developing regulatory filings associated with compensation, including the proxy statement.
• Conducting job analyses to determine appropriate market pricing; reviewing and approving salary increases and advising management on compensation actions for employees.
• Developing industry competitive pay systems which enable management to focus on rewarding individual and group performance.
• Establishing salary structures, developing salary budget, and preparing policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive employee compensation.
• Ensuring alignment of total rewards with culture, strategy, and operational imperatives.
• Working with accounting, legal, and tax departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all tax laws.
What Do You Need to Have?
• At least 7 plus years of experience in human resources in a compensation management capacity, preferably in an organization(s) known for leading-edge human resources practices and strategies. Experience in the industries of media and entertainment and/or the high-technology is a plus.
• Service in a similar HR role in a business of similar (or larger) scope and scale as SNI. Service in a HR role with a global scope or supporting multiple business groups across multiple countries is a plus.
• Proven track record of driving and executing a strategy in transforming rewards practices; successfully and efficiently managing large-scale change.
• Success in introducing innovative compensation programs, from concept to execution.
• Expertise in the design, development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs (broad-based, executive, variable, sales, stock/equity, etc.).
• Ability to assess, interpret and act to influence/motivate change, all while navigating the nuances of a highly-collaborative and relationship-driven environment.
• Advocate for and drive continuous innovation; push the boundaries. Demonstrate courage and risk taking. Display a curiosity for the business.
• Build relationships and demonstrate exceptional people skills and management capability.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to effectively translate the vision and strategy into clear priorities and direction to a broad set of stakeholders.
• Experience working with Workday or other payroll/record keeping systems is highly preferred.
• Ability to gain quick credibility with a driven, creative workforce in a fast-paced environment, and translate process into this kind of environment.
