Provide administrative support to supervisor and department by performing clerical functions, preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings.
Job Description:
Scripps Networks Interactive, the leader in lifestyle media with top brands such as HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel, is searching for an Administrative Assistant in New York City to join our Business and Legal Affairs and Compliance team. This role will be reporting to the SVP, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
• Manage and maintain supervisor and department schedules.
• Prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
• Read and review incoming memos, submissions, and reports in order to determine their significance and plan their distribution.
• Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email.
• Greet visitors and determine whether they should be given access to specific individuals.
• Prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquiries.
• Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies.
• Make travel arrangements for supervisor and department staff.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO HAVE?
Experience
• Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of vocational technical training or an Associate's degree; Bachelor's degree a plus.
• Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in area of responsibility.
• Background at a media company preferred.
Skills
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Organized and efficient manager of time.
• Instinct to address issues proactively and not reactively.
• Possess the interpersonal skills and judgment to interface with senior company executives.
Software Familiarity:
• Proficient working with Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and MS Outlook.
• Strong PC background, with demonstrated proficiency with Windows 7.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Frequently sit at a computer terminal and desk.
• Frequently walk to other areas within or outside of the department to distribute or gather information.
• Occasional standing; occasional lifting moderate loads up to 25 lbs.; frequent bending.
• Stooping, crouching while filing; occasional reaching, twisting and turning.
• Frequent handling of files, pencils and paper; frequent keyboarding, writing and other duties requiring fingering.
• Continuous hearing.
• Use of near/midrange/far vision and speaking to disseminate information.
• Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require some travel to department offsite meetings.
