Assistant needed for talent manager at reputable boutique Hollywood office. Seeking an extremely
motivated and organized candidate who wants to become a talent manager (and firm associate) sooner
rather than later.
TOP CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
- An artistic and commercial sensibility that knows-or is always curious to figure out-which
opportunity is right for which client and a hunger to develop and perfect sales skills. That,
combined with a fearless initiative to pick up a phone and help manager book those opportunities
for clients.
- A love of actors, directors, writers and all genres in which they can work. Must be able to take the
long view and be excited to find new talent-and to reap the financial rewards when new talent
succeeds.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with an unwavering patience for the highs,
lows and exasperations of the business, with one end-goal always in mind: creating client opportunities
and booking jobs.
Hungry and skilled candidates looking to work at larger companies-and those already impatiently bored
or mistreated there-are encouraged to apply and benefit from a one-to-one experience with an
established 30-year industry vet, who's mentored others successfully after decades-long experience at
major companies before founding his own.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handling, coordinating and rearranging client schedules, with the intention of making their day
run smoothly and effectively.
- Familiarization with client's work and background for optimum effectiveness when submitting via
Breakdown or pitching casting offices (includes viewing numerous client reels and photos).
- Extensive phone work, incoming and outgoing.
- Mining client opportunities via Breakdowns, specifically matching clients to available roles.
- Maintaining client records, updating resumes and online profiles.
- Keeping an eye out for new talent in plays, TV/film or various local performances and actively going out
to scout new talent, including attendance at UCB, Groundlings, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
Prior work experience and references from reputable agency or management company, or experience
working for an established casting director.
Superior verbal and written communication skills and easy manner on the phones.
Bachelor's degree.
Motived with desire to become a manager or agent.
Working familiarity with Breakdown Express.
Fluency and finesse with Apple Computers and applications.
A good eye.
Comprehension of the greater LA grid (for client scheduling purposes).
One year commitment.
