Corporate Communications Intern Job Description
Scholastic Corporation is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books and a leader in educational technology. Scholastic Inc. is looking for (1) for credit intern to join our Corporate Communications Department. Located in our New York City headquarters, this internship will give students an opportunity to work with a dynamic and collaborative Public Relations group – winner of PRWeek’s Best In-House PR Team award for 2010. The student will work on a stimulating variety of public relations and internal communications activities, as well as special events for external and internal audiences.
The Intern will:
•Work alongside department executives and publicists to provide support on all day-to-day public relations activities
•Research press opportunities and compile press lists
•Draft press materials and conduct media follow-up calls
•Prepare daily and weekly press reports for distribution
•Assist with special events and/or campaigns
Requirements:
•Candidate must be currently enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree
•Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication and research skills, initiative and acute attention to detail
•Ability to multitask and work within deadlines
•Available to work up to 15 hours a week
•Good academic standing
•Professional and personable demeanor
•Familiarity with Cision (formerly Bacons) a plus and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and internet research
•Previous internship experience a plus
***This is an unpaid internship for course credit only. This will be verified with a letter written by an academic advisor.
