Full Time Job
SQE Music is a full-service music company with label, management and publishing divisions. We are currently looking to hire an experienced licensing and publishing employee for our Los Angeles office.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement the administration, registration and exploitation of the entire SQP catalogue, assets and copyrights
- Oversee and implement the licensing of the entire SQP and SQE catalogue
- Set up and maintain SQP's catalogue databases for assets and copyrights
- Stay up to date on and discover new and inventive ways of collecting and optimizing the collection of royalties on the works in the SQP catalogue
- Maintain existing and continue to build new relationships with 3rd parties such as PROs, mechanical rights societies, digital platforms, record companies, music supervisors, ad agencies, production teams, networks, and sub-publishers for the purposes of better administering and licensing our catalogue.
- Directly liaise with SQP finance department to ensure accurate accounting and receipt of income and royalties
- Draft and review licenses
- Point of contact for all admin questions and support for writers
- Work effectively with the label, management and marketing departments as needed
- Work effectively with our 3rd party partners (e.g. pitch partners and sub publishers)
- Other duties may be assigned
Job Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years work experience in music publishing
- Cohesive experience in all areas of music publishing administration
- A strong team player: friendly, confident, creative, easy to get along with, focused, driven, passionate about music and not easily distracted
- Ability to be creative with admin procedures, collections and writer services
- Strong understanding of and experience with intellectual property rights, international copyrights, royalty collections and statements, publishing contracts, and music licensing
- Experience with Music Maestro (Counterpoint systems) and other royalty programs is a plus
- Strong relationships with PROs, record companies, rights collection agencies, publishers, music supervisors, ad agencies, production houses, networks and studios is a plus
- Business Affairs experience is a plus
