The Production Engineer will provide engineering expertise to the Global Media Services group. This will include but is not limited to; trouble-shooting support for issues encountered by our operations team, providing appropriate resolutions in a timely manner, and assessing client rejections.
In addition, this position will support the client one-off jobs that are not extensive enough for a full on-boarding process. This will encompass analyzing client specifications in order to design the workflow and create deliverable files.
This position will also assist with production and/or on-boarding work during times where the volume of work necessitates assistance.
Qualified candidates will be workflow SME (Subject Matter Expert) after onboarding releases new production workflows. As such, this position will train production engineering team members so they may provide support and training for production on all workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, prioritize, resolve, document and communicate both technical and operational issues providing overall Quality Control of daily operations.
- Estimate problem resolution times, either independently or in collaboration with other team members. Adequately communicating and managing the expectations of Global Media Services clients
- Lead effort in investigating client rejections, providing production with root cause and course of correction. Advising and working with Tier 2 workflow engineering if a permanent fix needs to be implemented
- Set-up and execution of workflows and profiles for one-off media jobs.
- Support role for excessive production work
- Conduct training for operational personnel, of new procedures and projects.
- Set up, operate and test a wide variety of video, audio and metadata applications running on both hardware and software
- Will be required to submit regular status updates and reports to his/her supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years work experience in the video/audio operational field.
- Possess a high degree of knowledge surrounding video, audio, metadata, tools and the post-production environment
- Possess a high level understanding of video and audio content, be able to evaluate and classify defects or anomalies in video, audio program material and metadata.
- Knowledge of the technical specifications and their uses i.e. codecs, wrappers, VBI, closed captioning, frame rates, aspect ratios, bit rates, color space, GOP structures, standards conversion and metadata
- Thorough understanding of transcoding software, non-linear editors, metadata and its function, professional broadcast video/audio equipment and standards.
- Exceptional viewing, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Advanced computer skills, including the ability to work with and debug untested production software.
- Able to work overtime as needed.
Job Related Experience:
2 years experience with content transformation applications not limited to Final Cut, Digital Rapids, Rhozet and Protools.
2 years experience with post-production hardware Tape decks, Vector scopes, captioning, text inserters, signal flow and patch-bays
2 years experience with file transport technologies Aspera, Signiant, smartjog and FTP
Understanding of IP addressing, permissions, networking concepts and terminology
Job Related Education:
High school diploma or equivalent and one of the following
On the job experience
Audio/Video trade school certification
Audio/Video college degree
