The Broadcast Support Technician reports to the Vice President of Access Services, Americas and will provide technical guidance in connection in the setup and operation of live-captioning/subtitling capabilities using stenographic and/or voice-recognition methodologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine the technical specs needed to support the objectives of the Business Plan.
- Develop a technical diagram for the set up and operation of a fully functional Access Services Department.
- Define technical requirements needed for real time live captioning.
- Install and maintain equipment as needed.
- Assess if staff support is sufficient to support business opportunities and objectives, and close any key technical gaps in expertise through staffing and/or process recommendations.
- Evaluate if equipment, processes and systems are compliant with Industry protocols.
- Advise on the FCC regulations and impact to work flows as applicable.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which might include evenings, overtime and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong broadcast engineering skills and ability to quickly understand new media technology.
- Knowledge and expertise in the latest broadcast software, hardware, IT/IP and/or special equipment
- Excellent troubleshooting capabilities for hardware, software and networking.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build credibility and collaborate with associates at all levels.
- Ability to manage priorities against tight deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated, organized and self-managed.
- Must be able to multitask in a high-volume environment.
- Attention to detail, organization, and great follow-up skills necessary.
- Must be able to respond to urgent requests in a focused, positive and professional manner.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree and/ or comparable experience in Broadcast Communications or similar industry.
- Basic knowledge of streaming media formats in adaptive bit-rate technology and their scalable applications.
- Knowledge of Transmission systems, including but not limited to, Encoding, Multiplexing, Encryption/CA Integration, Modulation, and associated systems such as DPI Ad-Insertion, DVB Subtitling, EPGs, Transport Stream Splicing and TS Processors.
- Familiarity with On-Air Automation and Traffic systems.
