Full Time Job
This position is based in Mexico City, Mexico but reports to the Vice President of Finance, based in Los Angeles, California. As such, the incumbent must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, in English and Spanish. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starting individual who can work independently as well as within an established Accounting team. A strong background in accounting that includes supervisory experience will also be critical to the success of the position.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare accurate and timely accounting and reporting according to US GAAP and Mexico (local GAAP), as applicable.
• Month/Quarter/Year closing, accurate and timely reporting and review.
• Monthly reporting and analysis of results to US office by due date.
• Review and monitor monthly Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Reconciliations.
• Review and post journal entries.
• Co-ordinate and report annual budget and quarterly Plan and Reforecast for business.
• Measure profitability of Business Segment, Clients, and Projects.
• Advise the business on cost saving improvements and opportunities to maximize profits.
• Supervision of Accounting and Payroll functions.
• Management and control of billing process including timeliness of billing and collections.
• Review weekly cash forecast and manage cash, including timing of payments to vendors.
• Assist in developing and refining processes and standards including streamlining and improving work papers.
• Statutory and regulatory Reporting to external authorities as required (Mexican Tax Requirements).
• Bank liaison for various tasks.
• Perform general administration duties as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
• 4+ years progressive accounting/supervisory experience
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English and Spanish
• University degree in accounting, finance or related field required
• Must have strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
• Knowledge of US GAAP and Mexican GAAP including an understanding of accounting controls, processes and procedures is required
• Experience in annual audits and an audit perspective that is reflected in accounting policies and procedures; work papers and support documentation a plus
• Supervisory experience required overseeing staff, department functions and processes
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
