ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This section provides a general summary of the most significant job duties performed. It does not explain in detail every single duty performed.
· Responsible for all aspects of new member outreach and maintenance of membership records.
· Create a monthly membership report to Executive Director including new members and all changes in membership status.
· Clear members for work under freelance contracts.
· Creates outreach materials and all other member communications including printed newsletters, e-newsletters, and all other member event communications.
· Coordinate the planning of member events.
· Staffs local executive board and committee meetings.
· Provides administrative support to Executive Director and establishes, implements, and monitors systems for smooth office workflow.
· Prepare and mail official correspondence as requested.
· Create backup copies of all computer records, including daily backup on hard drive and weekly backup on other media.
· Inventory supplies, coordinate purchases, and maintain vendor relationships.
· Coordinate all mailings and printed materials routinely provided to board.
· When advisable, recruit and manage member office volunteers under the direction of the Executive Director.
· Post notices and information on SAG-AFTRA Local bulletin board and website(s).
· Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
(The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.)
· Superlative interpersonal skills-must be able to cultivate strategic and collaborative relationships internally and externally.
· Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
· Able to accurately type 35 WPM
· Computer competency in accounting systems (QuickBooks), database (Microsoft Access), spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (Microsoft Word) and publishing (Microsoft Publisher).
· Excellent verbal communication skills. Customer service approach.
· Excellent writing skills. Knowledge of grammar, business correspondence, and basic journalism.
· Basic knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles. Competency in math. ( this is not necessary? All booking is done in LA.
· Able to work independently and without supervision
· Detail oriented
· Able to organize and coordinate multiple tasks under deadlines
· Must be able to work in an environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
· Have an understanding and or awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members; Dedication to workers' rights and social justice.
· Hold yourself and others accountable to a high level of performance and integrity.
· Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs
· Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
•BA/BS college degree and/or 5+ years related experience
•Labor or entertainment industry experience a plus
