POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the National Director, Organizational and Employee Development, the Manager, Employee Communications will play an integral role in developing and implementing internal communications plans to support all SAG-AFTRA employee initiatives, and Human Resources programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
(This section provides a general summary of the most significant job duties performed. It does not explain in detail every single duty performed).
Partners with HR leadership to drive internal communication activities that support employee engagement, and provides a clear understanding of the key priorities and focus of the organization and it members.
Prepares and/or edits internal communications in support of HR initiatives.
Ensures employee messaging is broadly understood, and reflects the organization's strategic vision.
Develops and implements various employee communications campaigns, as well as maintains ongoing employee communications to include those that support change management, employee engagement, and all other employee engagement initiatives.
Refines core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of internal communications.
Provides communications coaching to the HR leadership team, and includes: key message development, and implementation of creative communication tactics.
Establishes, and provides best practices surrounding organizational internal communications.
Coordinates, and supports Local employee events/recognition meetings.
Partners closely with the communications and marketing staff to insure all communications are consistent with the SAG-AFTRA brand.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
(The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.)
The ability to work independently, and produce high quality results under tight deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
Experience using social media applications for employee communications.
Proven ability to influence without authority.
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, and collaboratively work with and/or lead cross-functional teams.
Ability to provide creative recommendations and solutions.
Experience managing and maintaining Intranet portals.
Must be detailed-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
Superlative interpersonal skills: possesses a high degree of patience and tact.
Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic, and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds; both internally and externally.
Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
Must be self-motivated, with the ability to manage projects and time efficiently.
Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members, and dedication to workers' rights.
Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non-exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or human resources with 2-4 years of experience in the areas of scoping, managing, and producing a variety of communications deliverables or 4-6 years of equivalent work experience.
2+ years' internal communications experience required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint is required.
Proficiency with online content management systems and intranet preferred, along with basic working knowledge of HTML is required.
Project and program management experience strongly desired.
Knowledge/interest in the entertainment industry and/or unions preferred.
Exceptional writing skills and proficiency with AP style.
Experience with Adobe content creation/editing software (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) a plus.
