Full Time Job
POSITION PURPOSE: Under the Associate Executive Director, Los Angeles Local Operations, the Communications Coordinator in the Los Angeles Local Department will support, coordinate all communications and publicity needs for the Los Angeles Local department along with committee support and some administrative duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Work with team and internal departments as sources of information to insure consistent and timely communications for all LA Local based program, events and activities.
-Author and schedule distribution of weekly emails to members and targeted groups.
-Collect and write content for Local newsletters and National magazine.
-Draft, format and coordinate electronic and printed communications and documentation as needed.
-Create and sustain social media presence for LA Local & Local committees.
-Supervise and catalogue LA Local photo archive.
-Chart member participation on panels and events
-Work with National Communications staff to update and maintain LA Local web pages.
-Manage local member benefits.
-Support local programs, meetings and events as required.
-Staff internal and external events as required.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

-Excellent writing, proofing and editing skills.
-Outstanding attention to detail and precise execution skills.
-Exceptional oral and written command of English language and English grammar.
-Long and short terms planning skills are essential.
-Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks with multiple deadlines.
-Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience; able to respond to difficult situations and individuals in a tactful and diplomatic manner; able to skillfully cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, both internally and externally.
-Demonstrated proficiency in PC software applications, including photo editing, Excel, Word, Desktop Publishing, and Power Point.
-Ability to show discretion with sensitive and confidential matters.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Must be able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment, where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
-Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
-Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
-Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
-Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
-Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
-Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
-BA/BS degree in journalism or communications highly preferred.
-At least two years communication or writing experience or related experience required.
-Knowledge/interest in the entertainment and labor industry preferred.
-HTML knowledge a plus.
-Social media experience essential.
-Superlative writing and editing skills required.

-Basic skills:spelling, math, grammar, and filing - passing score: 76%
-Microsoft Word and Excel tests (basic, intermediate and advanced) - passing score: 76%
