Business Representative (Atlanta Local)
POSITION PURPOSE: The Business Representative, within guidelines and under supervision, is responsible for researching, processing and resolving claims on behalf of performers working under SAG-AFTRA contracts, interpreting contractual provisions for performers, talent agents, and production personnel, and handling signatory processes and production monitoring. The Business Representative participates in outreach and educational events and serves as an internal organizer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Investigate, research, conciliate and resolve claims initiated by performers or their representatives.
• Field inquiries and disseminate accurate rulings and interpretations, regarding the Theatrical and Television agreements and related contracts.
• Handle signatory procedures for Television and Theatrical Agreements.
• Monitor Theatrical and Television production in the area supported by the Atlanta Local, including collection of payroll, production and post-production documentation.
• Conduct set visits for production in Georgia, South Carolina, and other areas, as necessary.
• Assist in organizing producers via outreach and educational events.
• Serve as an internal organizer/membership liaison responsive to members working under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively articulate complex contract issues and compose original correspondence and reports.
• Ability to communicate persuasively and effectively with performers and production personnel.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Must have high level of initiative to handle work which is largely unsupervised.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
• Ability to work under pressure in a very high paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple tasks under daily deadlines.
• Ability to expedite heavy workload efficiently.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Demonstrate interpretative and analytic ability.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
• Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.

• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions), including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
and/or Experience:
• Undergraduate degree or a combination of 5 years of education and experience in a labor relations or entertainment environment preferred.
• Juris Doctor degree a plus, but not required.
• Background in contract interpretation and enforcement a plus.
