POSITION PURPOSE:
Protect the interests of SAG-AFTRA and its members by enforcing SAG-AFTRA broadcast collective bargaining agreements in all matters relating to members' working conditions through negotiation and settlement of disputes and drafting relevant contract provisions. Provide assistance to members in obtaining and maintaining their health and retirement benefits. Support the Local staff, board of directors, and member committees by providing advice and opinions on issues as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Negotiations, Representation and Contract Administration
• Draft and negotiate terms and provisions of contracts relating to the minimum wages, hours, and working conditions of SAG-AFTRA broadcast members; including, but not limited to, minimum scale wages, pay increases, hours of work, and benefits (including health and retirement).
• Provide general overview, information and assistance to SAG-AFTRA members related to their work under SAG-AFTRA broadcast collective bargaining agreements. Provide guidance to SAG-AFTRA members on individual contract negotiations.
• Actively engage Broadcast unit members to build internal cohesion and strength to help foster effective and successful negotiations.
• Identify and develop activists in broadcast units to be shop stewards and unit leaders.
• Represent SAG-AFTRA and its members in resolving disputes with management related to the collective bargaining agreement, working conditions of members, and disciplinary matters.
• Assist in arbitration and litigation where collective bargaining disputes are not resolved on the grievance level; including, but not limited to, factual research and serving as a witness for SAG-AFTRA.
• Assist in the internal administration of dues check off authorizations and pre-tax health premium payment provisions of collective bargaining agreements; including working with employers to provide the necessary information and mechanisms for achieving SAG-AFTRA's rights under the collective bargaining agreements as it pertains to these areas.
• Establish working relationships with employer counterparts in order to effectively administer and enforce the terms of the collective bargaining agreements.
Benefits Administration
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the union health and retirement plans.
• Assist members in obtaining health and retirement benefits under the union health and retirement plans via the terms of the collective bargaining agreements; including working closely with the health and retirement plans' staff to ensure proper benefits coverage of members.
• Provide general overview, information and assistance to SAG-AFTRA members as it pertains to their health and retirement benefits under the union's health and retirement plans.
• Advise Local SAG-AFTRA staff, board of directors, and member committees on issues related to the health and retirement plans that may affect their work and/or benefits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. (Spanish speaker is desirable but not required.)
• Able to negotiate effectively.
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.

• Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
• A Bachelor's degree in a related field of study, such as union administration, labor studies, or labor relations, from an accredited college/university or equivalent.
• At least five years' experience in negotiations, preferably with a labor organization or in the field of labor relations, focusing on contract negotiations, contract administration and dispute resolution.
• Or 8-10 years combination of education and applicable work experience.
Certificates, licenses and/or registrations:
Must have a current driver's license, automobile (in reliable working condition), and current automobile insurance that meets the state minimum requirements.
