POSITION PURPOSE:
The Administrative Assistant position is primarily responsible for supporting the various Local Committees and the Local Board. The Administrative Assistant compiles articles and submissions for the Local's newsletter, prepares electronic membership notices, minutes and promotional materials. The Administrative Assistant coordinates workshops for Committees; provides special event preparation, event coordination, food ordering, travel/hotel arrangements and related duties. This position also monitors election procedures and assists in adherence to election notices and calendaring. The Administrative Assistant provides backup for cast clearances and provides support to the Executive Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•- Compile articles, layout/design, edit of quarterly newsletter
•- Draft, edit and obtain approval for e-blasts and other member communications
•- Coordinate workshops for the Committees
•- Confirm speakers and event locations; check member eligibility; compile RSVPs and send reminder emails
•- Provide special event preparation, event coordination, food ordering, and related duties
•- Prepare materials for meetings, including minutes and agenda
•- Process cast clearances/Taft-Hartley reports
•- Assists in the preparation of election notices
•- Prepares election calendars and notices
•- Assists in complying with elections deadlines
•- Provide general administrative support
•- Provide backup for member services
•- Provide backup for claims or other assistance to business representatives
•- Assist in general mailings
•- Organize and maintain files, copy room, and kitchen areas
•- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
(The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.)
•- Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
•- Able to use PC applications
•- Must be able to accurately type 35 WPM
•- Detail oriented
•- Able to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks under daily deadlines
•- Able to work under pressure
•- Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor
•- Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally
•- Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members
•- Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
•- Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
•- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA's sole discretion.
•- Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
•- Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
•- College Degree and 1-4 years of relevant experience; or five plus years of relevant administrative and customer service experience with proven track record.
•- Strong writing skills
