Job Title: Broadcast Technician (NY)
Department: IT & Facilities
Reports To: NY Theater Manager, National Director of Facilities & IT.
Class: Part-time, Non-exempt
Position Summary:
This position conducts regular live event broadcasts using a NewTek TriCaster 455 on multiple stream platforms including YouTube Live, Ustream, and Google Hangouts, and creates graphic elements using Photoshop to include in live broadcasts. Handles multiple scenarios of AV setup, recording and post-production. Additional responsibilities include editing and post production responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinates with Program Directors and Theater Manager to create and prepare graphic elements for Livestream broadcasts.
• Prepares, sets-up, and tests equipment for Livestream broadcasts and a variety of AV productions, including teleprompter/camera set-ups, single and multi-camera set-ups.
• Conducts Livestream broadcast and AV recording incorporating graphic and media elements.
• Assures quality & integrity of audio and video during productions and Livestream broadcasts.
• Provides additional editing of recorded videos and special projects, as needed.
• Communicates with Theater Manager to report on Livestream/production issues and needs.
• Acts as back-up AV technician for events held in the NY Theater, as needed.
Internal Interactions: NY Theater Manager, National Director of Facilities/IT, AV Technicians, Broadcast Technicians, NY Director of Actor Programs, Program Directors, IT & Production Manager, Program Assistants
External Interactions: Program event guests, publicists, volunteers, event attendees, rental clients, building management and security
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Professional editing experience with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro 7 or X, and/or Avid (Preference given to candidates with real time multi-camera editing experience).
• Excellent understanding of a wide variety of post-production software, video formats, transcoding and compression algorithms and bitrates.
• High level competence with Photoshop, MS Office programs (knowledge of After Effects a plus)
• High level competence with Livestream broadcast equipment, web interfaces and technology including Youtube Live, Ustream, Google Hangouts, and NewTek TriCaster (Preference given to candidates with TriCaster certification).
• Must be available to work nights and weekend hours.
• Familiarity with audio, video and lighting setup for professional recordings.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.
• Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented.
• Ability to work in a very high paced environment.
• Able to organize and coordinate multiple tasks under deadline.
• Excellent interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact.
• Ability to organize and expedite heavy workload efficiently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated interpretative and analytic ability.
• Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA Foundation's sole discretion.
