Sr. Manager, Creative Marketing (Synchronization) - Los Angeles, CA
Overview: The Sr. Manager, Creative Marketing's primary responsibility will be to exploit and promote the company's music publishing catalog, roster, and music library to the entertainment industry (music supervisors, film, television, trailers, ad agencies, commercials, video games, merchandise, etc.). The Sr. Manager will bring to the company their own roster of synchronization contacts while also working to cultivate new contacts. The Sr. Manager will be an integral part of the company's creative team and will be comfortable collaborating as needed.
Title/Position: Sr. Manager, Creative Marketing
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Experience Level: 5+ years at a music supervision company, music publisher, or record label pitching music for film and television
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
• Exploitation of the company's publishing and music library catalogs by way of pitching music to and for television, film, trailers, commercials, etc.
• Actively cultivate new creative synchronization contacts while nurturing and manage pre-existing relationships with creative synchronization contacts through frequent communication, meetings, and outreach
• Frequently interface with the company's roster of artists and writers, and when needed, their respective managers and labels
• Import and tag music with objective and subjective metadata in the company's creative system as needed
• Work closely and collaboratively with the creative team on all pitches (whether procured by the Sr. Manager or other members of the team)
• Develop marketing plans based on the various sectors of entertainment and synchronization
• Quote on possible synchronization uses
• Seek out new artists that are suitable for possible administration, publishing and or co-publishing deals that are relevant to the needs of the synchronization world
• Work closely with A&R team in relation to reviewing and offering feedback on possible new artist and writer signings.
• Create projects and playlists for various themes, subject matters, etc., that would be used for pitches, e-blasts, and other opportunities
• As needed, manage another team member's project or pitch and be open to direction by the lead during the handover process
• Create and produce simple reports in Microsoft Word, Excel, and or PowerPoint as needed.
Required Skills
• Minimum of 5 years of prior work experience in pitching songs for synchronization at a music publishing company, record label or music supervision company
• Exceptional collaboration skills¬- must be a team player
• Open-minded and not above doing even the most seemingly basic work to keep things running smoothly in the department (this is a small team, and no one can be above pitching in on occasional grunt work, regardless of their title or experience level)
• The ability to listen to music critically and categorize songs in a manner that relates to how music is requested (e.g. by music supervisors)
• Broad and extensive industry relationships that can be leveraged in the areas of music for television, film, trailers, etc. (e.g. working relationship with music supervisors, music editors, clearance and licensing houses, etc.)
• Ability to efficiently and accurately quote and negotiate for synchronization licenses
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and execute on tasks while handling multiple priorities and diverse assignments in a deadline-driven environment
• Ability to work independently, within a team-oriented environment
• Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to self-motivate (be a self-starter) and take responsibility for/ownership of tasks
• Extremely detail oriented with strong project-management and organizational skills
• Ability to learn new tasks and create new contacts and relationships
• Demonstrated ability to be innovative and work toward improvements within scope of work
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the department and the company, and to proactively create efficient and effective processes to help meet those needs
• Flexibility and adaptability to evolving situations; you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, loosely-structured environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Experience utilizing CounterPoint's MusicMaestro or a similar industry-related IP management system
• Familiarity with FileMaker Pro
