Rooster Teeth, creators of the award winning video productions ''Red vs. Blue: RWBY: Achievement Hunter: Let's Play: X-Ray and Vav'', are looking for a Head of Development for both scripted and unscripted video series and productions to join our highly successful studio.??The Head of Development will be responsible for the identification, development, acquisition of new content, and with the Chief Creative Officer, coordination of new series production. Responsibilities include creating a development cycle that identifies great projects, self-generating fresh ideas, coordinating the acquisition of scripts, maintaining a stable of writers, assisting in the selection of writers, working with the Creative Director and Programing Director to develop next generation of hit series that meet the programing needs of the company, including release schedules, distribution channels and revenue goals.
Responsibilities:
• Develop pilots, series and other productions, to meet programing goals
• Solicit scripts, and treatments. Identification and managing script acquisition process including, tracking, rights assignments, custody and library.
• The safety and logging of any and all properties received by the company and charged with their safe return.

• Maintains development schedule assessable to management with the following status and tracking: Idea, Title, Concept line, Story in Brief, Treatment, Story First Draft, Second Draft, Additional Drafts, Production Estimate, Package, Polish, Budget, Financed, In Production, Released
• Work with in-house and outside writers; proposing writers for each project, locating new writers, working with writers to bring out the highest level of creativity and productivity
• End product is a script that is greenlight for production, packaged and financed in the shortest amount of time as possible.
• Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in development of content. Develop the appropriate resource plan to execute including freelancers, in-house staff and/or additional team members as appropriate.
• Perform personnel duties, such as hiring staff and evaluating work performance.
• Monitor trends and contribute to the strategy for programming to meet the changing viewership and company strategy demands. Including identify freemium, premium and sponsored concepts.
• Work with creative and production to estimate budgets and production timelines for greenlighting process.
• Develop a process for greenlighting and monitoring creative process to ensure that they remain within budgetary limits.
• Coordinate with producers and production staff to manage on-time delivery of materials and optimize production-to-distribution pipeline.
• Ensure that all necessary legal clearances and asset rights have been obtained before development starts
• Work with business development to optimize content and integration where appropriate.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or representative practical experience
• 5-7 years' experience with in depth knowledge of long-form unscripted and short form scripted programing with strong viewership. Specific experience with online video series preferred.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with digital video platforms including but not limited to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat
• Expertise in large scale project management
• Strong knowledge of broadcast and live action processes and technologies
• Proven storytelling, writing and editorial abilities.
• Proven ability to work with creative talent, not invalidating or suppressing, inspiring writers to bring their best work to the company.
• Excellent leadership skills
• Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills
• Experience with some or all of the following is preferred: Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Premiere
• Demonstration of key competencies: accountability for results, client focus, team effectiveness, developing others, creative thinking, communicating ideas, and organizational sophistication
• Strong working knowledge of production techniques and procedures
• Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures; developing and implementing new strategies and procedures to maximize efficiency
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to foster a cooperative work environment
• Strong client-facing communication skills
• Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
• Strong self-starter and strategic thinker; attention to detail and deadline oriented performer a must with the strong ability to multi-task
