Founded in 1997, Rooftop Films is an innovative grassroots non-profit film festival based in Brooklyn, NY. Rooftop has grown to become one of NYC's leading film organizations serving over 48,000 audience members. Our mission is to engage and inspire diverse communities by showing movies in outdoor locations, producing new films, and renting equipment and producing events at low-cost to artists, non-profits and community groups.
A great opportunity for aspiring event photographers: get a crash course in film, music, and party event documentation at our innovative Summer Series screenings, all while seeing hundreds of great movies in outdoor venues across the city. We welcome students finishing their 1st year of college (or age equivalent) or above and all graduate students.
Internships are not paid, but can be done for school credit. Find out your school's internship or field work credit requirements and we will work with you to accommodate them. Our offices are on the border of Park Slope and Gowanus, near the R, F and G trains in Brooklyn, so please apply only if you will be able to handle that commute.
Internship Responsibilities Include:
• Learn about music, film, and party event documentation by attending and photographing our Summer Series programs (45+ outdoor, enhanced film screenings taking place across New York City).
• Collaborate on unique and innovative image-based social media initiatives on the Rooftop Films Instagram.
• Assist in maintaining Rooftop Films photo database.
• Work with the Communications Manager to document event highlights and sponsor activation.
Qualified Candidates Should Have:
• Experience and fluency with Photoshop and other Adobe Creative programs.
• Strong visual aesthetics.
• Passion for event photography and film.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work within a tight deadline.
• Knowledge of and interest in current social media trends.
Photo Internship candidates would be expected to attend at least two shows a week and one day in office per week, but generally the more time you can commit the better.
Start Date: May/June 2017
