Festival Programming Interns (2 positions)
A great opportunity for students studying film, media and/or mass communications as well as young filmmakers: learn how a nonprofit film festival works and see hundreds of great movies.
Interns will work closely with members of the programming team to assist in the pre-screening and rating of film submissions, and will participate in almost every process of the programming process. Interns will also assist with the general operations of Rooftop Films off season programs and preparation for the 2017 Summer Series, including fundraising, marketing and outreach, organizing of off-season screenings and general office and festival work.
Candidates must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for film criticism and/or curation. This internship is an excellent opportunity to participate in the programming process of Rooftop Films and a great way to learn the inner workings of a film festival. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students (a passion for film is a must - film production / film studies experience is a plus).
Requirements: Candidates should have good experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), Google Docs, and experience with Filemaker, HTML, Airtable, design programs or video editing software is a plus. Interns would be expected to average at least two days a week in the office, but generally the more time you can commit the better.
Primary internship tasks will include:
+ Tracking and requesting new independent films
+ Organizing and maintaining film databases
+ Pre-screening film festival submissions
+ Contacting and corresponding with filmmakers
+ Organizing off-season film screenings
+ Assisting with operations of off season projects, including:
+ Marketing/Outreach/Publicity
+ Fundraising/Grant research and administration
+ Print production
+ Audio and video tech work
+ Writing: including the Rooftop blog, social media, press releases and website content
+ General office work
+ Anything else you might be interested in-we want you to see how we work
Rooftop Films is an equal opportunity employer, and strongly encourages women and people of color to apply.
