Relativity Media has an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager to join our Relativity Television team.
The Accounting Manager position will be part of small team, will be responsible for all facets of the accounting function, as well as assist with budget and forecast preparation.
The Manager is responsible for the GL, A/P, A/R, cash management, banking, standard close process, financial report building, financial statement analysis, royalty reporting, consolidated budgeting and forecasting, liaising with Relativity Media Corporate team on ad hoc requests and external resources as it relates to tax and audit filings and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is a team player, with excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. Candidates should demonstrate a history of long-term employment, career progression and experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities:
• System Implementation Team
o Manage and complete data integration to new General Ledger system, including reconciling data, data cleansing and validation of historical figures.
o Work with team to implement new General Ledger system, including adding value through the developing and refining internal processes through the implementation.
• Monthly close
o Update and manage weekly cash flow
o Work with Production finance to ensure timely invoicing and collection of receivables
o Review participation statements
o Overhead expense and recoverability
o Prepare financial reports for Sr. Finance Executive to review and for distribution to Senior Management team and Parent Company
o Perform standard close and complete monthly, quarterly and year end reporting requirements, including reconciliations (bank, intercompany and general account reconciliations), balance sheet analysis, cash flow and
o Prepare and post journal entries and establish accruals, as deemed necessary
• Quarterly forecasting and annual budget
o Work with senior management, creative and production teams, to project annual revenues and profit margins across all series
o Assess overhead
• Partnership with head of production finance
o Ensure Corporate accounting reflects current production schedule and status of all series.
o Manage monthly close process for timeliness and accuracy - including bank reconciliations, petty cash and Pcard reconciliations and accruals.
o Ensure all corporate charges are invoiced to production with appropriate support.
o Set up and invoicing of post production and other corporate billbacks with sufficient rate card back up.
• Monthly reporting (internal)
o Development (Scripted and Unscripted) tracking and reporting.
o Margin/ Recoverability Analysis.
o Development Master Grid.
• Provide assistance in developing and administering policies/procedures and assessing controls environment.
• Liaise with Corporate Accounting team and external auditors, as required for annual and interim audits.
• Assist with network production audits, as required.
• Assess controls environment and continue to monitor as the business processes change and evolve.
• Ad hoc requests and special projects.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 3-5 years of results-oriented work experience in finance and accounting. A combination of public accounting experience, and entertainment industry experience, particularly within a production and/or television environment, is not required, but preferred. Big 4 experience is ideal, but not required.
• Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel; proficient in the use of other Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experienced general ledger systems user - Microsoft Dynamics and Right Tracking system (iRights, Jaguar, etc…) experience a plus.
• System implementation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP and cash-basis accounting and ability to report on both bases.
• Desire to thrive and consistently perform in a fast-paced environment where priorities are likely to evolve and change direction within compressed timeframes.
• Excellent negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to distill information and make recommendations clearly and succinctly to internal leaders and stakeholders.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Comfort in managing multiple projects concurrently, and satisfying aggressive deadlines.
• Must possess exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, marked by a high level of professionalism, composure and poise.
