Who we're looking for…
RWS and Associates is currently seeking a Technical and Design Associate to serve as the Technical Director and Designer.
About the role…
Reporting to the Director of Technical Production and Design, the Technical and Design Associate (TDA) will be responsible for making sure that the technical aspects of select productions are carried out and managed in a timely fashion. This includes coordinating and/or executing provided video, sound, lighting, set graphics and props design at production installations and load outs. At times this role will act as point person for scenic shops and will manage the technical details needed to ensure the success of productions, during pre-production, the actual show/event, and post production. The TDA will also be responsible for maintaining all inventories for video, graphics, props and scenery. In addition, the TDA will provide graphic design support for internal marketing and documentation.

Continuously remain on the cutting edge of design practices while broadening the company's reputation as a source for high end technical practices and resource for live event productions.
• In collaboration with the Director of Technical Production and Design, develop and implement department policies and procedures.
• Manage projects effectively within a given budget.
• Design scenery, props, graphics, lights, sound, and video for select theme park, retail, resort, and corporate events.
• Convert all scenery and/or lighting designs into CAD versions for scene shop bids.
• Design graphics for all office and production based needs. This would include logos, web and print marketing material, scenery prints, and inter-office forms.
• Plan, develop, schedule and provide the technical support required for each event or performance.
• Organize, shoot, and edit videos and still photography of the company's productions for archival and promotional purposes.
• Maintain all inventories for scenery, properties, video, photo, and graphics.
• Be able to perform most carpentry, electrics, rigging, sound or video engineering needs while onsite for select productions.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, coworkers and clients
• Maintain irregular and extended working hours per production demands.
• Ability to lift, push or pull objects up to 100 pounds using appropriate tools.
• Understanding that the position will require moderate to substantial traveling with evening and weekend responsibilities depending on production schedules.
What you bring…
• Minimum BFA/BA degree in Theatrical Design or Technology; a Masters degree in the relevant fields is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years professional experience in theater, dance, corporate or theme park entertainment.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in the entertainment and live event production industry.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate the need for technical support for various events and performances.
• Analytic and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff, clients, and vendors.
• Ability to negotiate with vendors and come up with creative solutions to keep projects within budgets.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office applications or the equivalent iWork applications.
• Must have advanced knowledge in the following applications: Adobe CC 2014 programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition), and Vectorworks.
• Experience with professional camera equipment (still and video).
• Motivated, loyal, passion, integrity, mission-driven, and self-directed.
