Title: Senior Director/ Vice President Product Manager of RECORDS (new label venture between Barry Weiss and Songs Music Publishing)
Company Description: RECORDS is an independent and entrepreneurial record label venture in partnership with Matt Pincus and Ron Perry of Songs Music Publishing.
Mission Statement: To direct marketing focus & strategy, product development, label identity and artist relations for assigned RECORDS projects. The product manager will work side by side with the Co-founder- assisting with the execution of marketing strategies and artist development. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial outlook and will able to work creative and operational executives across all functions.
Key Functions:
1) Provide marketing continuity and focus for assigned RECORDS projects
• Work effectively with RECORDS staff and all internal and outsourced functions (Distribution, Production, Sales, Publicity, Radio, New Media, International, etc.) to identify target markets and develop comprehensive, timely marketing plans to reach those markets
• Consistently analyze results of marketing efforts as well as any other appropriate contextual market conditions; identify key opportunities and communicate these to the team.
• Work with RECORDS staff to develop cohesive imaging strategy for each project and reinforce the image throughout the project.
• Work closely with Artist & Repertoire from early stages of product to maintain consistency and vision of A&R.
• Oversee production (internal and external) of any audio visual elements including TV spots, EPKs, music videos, concert videos, etc., acting as a main liaison with outside production houses.
• Effectively manage M&P budgets for assigned projects.
• Plan & book advertising campaigns for assigned projects.
• Help direct international strategies, where appropriate, as well as communicate information and create appropriate tools for international partners for assigned projects.
2) Effectively manage marketing & promotion budgets for RECORDS projects
• Work with Co-founder and CFO of RECORDS to create budgets for each commercial release.
• Work with finance department to process invoices and maintain budgets.
• Work with RECORDS Finance & Business Affairs to identify applicable recoup ability terms.
3) Effectively traffic all aspects of assigned projects from master delivery through production.
• Coordinate effectively with Creative, Productions and A&R (including A&R Admin) to ensure timely delivery of elements for album promotion.
• Contract liner notes writer, clear any materials to be included and circulate to artist/management for approval in a timely manner.
• For any video projects, act as a liaison between RECORDS, artist camp, production and authoring companies. Assemble elements and work with Business Affairs to make sure proper clearances are obtained.
4) Artist Relations for RECORDS artists
• Act as a key liaison between artist and RECORDS, maintaining awareness of communication any artists issues, plans, sensitivities, etc. to the team while also diplomatically representing RECORDS interests to the artist.
• Coordinate artist appearances (publicity, radio, in stores) with internal and external partners as well as artists and any other outside vendors (travel, equipment, etc.) ensuring that both the artists' and RECORDS needs are met in a satisfactory manner.
• Give artist management timely updates on all activity, keeping them abreast of sales performance while giving diplomatic analysis of the project's activity and relevant industry and market information.
Requirements:
• 5+ years marketing experience, 3+ years management level experience.
• Extremely organized and self-motivated.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient with PC.
• Extensive knowledge of music and music/entertainment business.
