Intern
Producers Guild of America
(New York, NY)
All applicants to this internship must be current students.
The Producers Guild of America East membership represents the varied and highest-caliber producing community on the east coast, including mainstream and independent producers working in film, television, and new media. The PGA East hosts a wide array of events for its 1750+ members, including professional seminars, workshops, mixers, pre-release screenings with Q&As, and the Produced By: New York conference.
The intern position entails assisting at least 2-3 consecutive, full days a week in the PGA East office. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the producing field as well as a strong knowledge of the entertainment industry. Intern duties include (but are not limited to) performing research, writing copy and preparing invitations and newsletters, working/attending screenings and events, answering phones, updating databases, special projects, office support, etc. This internship is an excellent opportunity to learn more about producing and the role of the Guild within the industry, as well as to engage with working producers in film (narrative and documentary), television (scripted and unscripted) and new media (web, mobile, games, interactive, transmedia, virtual reality, etc).
In addition, interns must have some evening and weekend availability to help run and attend events and screenings. Our ideal candidate will be eager to take advantage of the many educational and social events the Guild has to offer.
Internship is unpaid and school credit is optional. The PGA provides a subway travel stipend.
Position Requirements:
Applicants must be full/part-time students. Recent graduates are not eligible to apply. Applicants should have participated in film, TV, video, or media-arts programs, or have experience in the producing field. The candidate must be exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, eager to take initiative, and open to learning. They must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong social skills, and be computer-literate and internet savvy. Proficiency in typing, MS Word and Excel, and Mac and PC is required. Familiarity with Final Cut Pro and Photoshop is a plus.
The internship will begin mid/late January and run through mid May. Applicants should be available for an in-person interview.
