Seeking a Post Production Data Technician to join our team in our New York Office. Data Technician will send, receive and distribute digital elements used in Film & Television Post-Production via electronic transmission methods or physical media such as hard drives, data tape, & optical discs. They will archive and retrieve data to and from off-line tape storage, and do quality assurance of Digital Intermediate files. Please note this is an Evening shift (4PM-Midnight).
Key Responsibilities:
Data Management
• Daily management of data on shared storage.
• Movement of data from one system to another while ensuring that proper conventions are
followed.
• Archiving of all data across multiple formats.
• Work closely with Producers to ensure all data is migrated properly.
• Encoding management, using Prime Focus's render farm.
• Work with engineering to modify workflows.
• Develop ideas for improving existing render tools and procedures.
• Must be able to archive and restore data from LTO tapes.
Position Requirements:
• Basic knowledge of file formats…XDCAM, IMX, DNX, etc.
• Knowledge of film/video post-production techniques, software, hardware and workflow
desired.
• Must have a fundamental understanding of video standards, frame rates and aspect ratios.
• IT experience preferred
• Must be able to prioritize requests and have effective communications skills.
• Detail oriented with a strong ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of: Linux, Mac OS X and Windows XP.
• Familiarity with a command line environment.
• General understanding of networking.
• Understanding of computer hardware troubleshooting.
• General knowledge of software applications such as Final Cut Pro, Avid Media
Composer, Davinci Resolve.
