POPSUGAR Studios is looking for a creative and original-thinking Writer/Researcher to join our production team in our LA Studios. You will develop fresh angles and unique story concepts for our video series. If you are obsessed with celebrity, entertainment, style and living content and have the chops to deliver clickable, shareable stories in these genres, then you are a perfect match.
We are looking for someone who has a feel for the POPSUGAR brand and its millennial female audience, pushes past the predictable and generic, and crafts stories that motivate our audience to watch and share, through combining emotional, smart or funny approaches with authoritative, trustable takeaways.
Responsibilities:
Develop and write story ideas for POPSUGAR content categories in celebrity, entertainment, style and living.
Synthesize breaking news, social media, broader trends and events into the essence of what readers need to know in ways that make it must-view.
Write content in a variety of different formats including longer-lead feature stories, talk show style discussions, topical/breaking news reports, game segments, VO packages, new show treatments, and more.
Write must-click, must-share headlines and titles.
Punch up scripts from hosts and producers.
Requirements:
Bachelors (or equivalent) degree, preferably in journalism, TV or production
Some demonstrable, relevant experience in writing
Ability to write clean copy, write quickly, and work well under pressure
Ability to embrace and create within the POPSUGAR brand voice
Ability to work within the POPSUGAR company culture and collaborate closely with with producers, talent and editorial staff
Able to adaptable to priorities changing rapidly and regularly
Based in our Los Angeles Studios and willing to travel on occasion
