Platinum Rye Entertainment, the world's largest purchaser of celebrity talent, is looking for a Director of Business and Legal Affairs for its New York office. Our clients encompass a variety of Fortune 500 companies and agencies looking to book talent, music and property to support their brands. The right candidate will work with our talent/music/IP procurement teams in drafting and negotiating contracts on behalf of our clients. The job will require a focus on deals and closing agreements while reflecting client needs and wants. The right candidate will be able to work with a variety of people, and alter his/her style accordingly. Competitive salary/benefits.
Primary responsibilities:
1) Support business team in negotiating/drafting/executing agreements between our clients (brands/ad agencies) and celebrities/media properties.
2) Advise talent negotiators on legal issues, negotiating strategy and contractual matters.
3) Draft and negotiate various business related agreements including MSAs, SOWs and NDAs.
4) Maintain and standardize templates for use in all aspects of business.
5) Have a working knowledge of SAG Commercials Contract and FTC Endorsement Guidelines.
6) Must be prepared to work flexible hours as needed to close deals.
Needed qualities:
1) Ability to multitask and prioritize;
2) Ability to focus on completing deals over legal formality when needed;
3) Experience and understanding of negotiation strategy and drafting agreements;
4) Ability to simply and concisely explain legal concepts to non-lawyers
5) Experience in Entertainment, Licensing, IP or marketing is highly preferred.
6) 5-7 years legal experience preferred.
7) Bar Admission Required.
