Full Time Unpaid Internship
In anticipation of potential internships in Software R&D starting in June 2017, we are accepting resumes for the following areas:
APPLICATION SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERNSHIP
Working closely with the Presto team, you will participate in the creation, implementation and testing of new technologies related to our proprietary animation tool and the 3D graphics programs used by Pixar's artists to create our feature films.
• FX Dev
• In this role, you'll be working closely with the FX Development team to refine and polish our FX pipeline. Requires strong C engineering skills, attention to detail and quality of code, experience with UNIX/Linux environments and 3D graphics applications (Maya, Houdini, Katana). Experience with simulation techniques (RBD, fluid, pyro) and rendering are a plus
• Rendering
• Work closely with the Look Development team, you'll explore and measure performance on various projects relevant to shading, materials, layering and rendering. Requirements include experience in C engineering, attention to detail and quality of code, experience with UNIX/Linux environments and knowledge of 3D applications (Maya, Houdini, Katana). Experience with rendering processes a plus
CORE SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERNSHIP
• Presto Evaluation Engine
• Work closely with the team on various projects that improve the performance of our in-house animation tools. Review, make suggestions and implement improvements to profiling tools. Requirements include experience in C engineering, attention to detail and quality of code, experience with UNIX/Linux, 3D graphics interaction techniques, and 3D applications (Maya, Houdini, Katana) and experience with modern GPU and HPC technologies a plus

• Work closely with team on various projects related to improving the performance and fidelity of our preview and realtime rendering tools. Requirements include experience in C engineering, attention to detail and quality of code, experience with UNIX/Linux, 3D graphics interaction techniques, 3D applications (Maya, Houdini, Katana) and knowledge/experience of OpenGL and modern GPU technologies

• QA Automation
• Work on projects in the heart of QA including debugging performance failures, adding automated testing and new features to our in-house QA tools. Requirements include Python scripting experience, basic knowledge of and interest in QA methodology and processes, attention to detail and quality of code, experience with UNIX/Linux, familiarity with 3D applications (Maya, Houdini, Katana) a plus as is Javascripting experience
FOUNDATION SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERNSHIPS
• Assets
• By developing or enhancing GUI and command-line utilities for creation, testing, and browsing of digital assets in all parts of the production pipeline, you will help prototype workflow enhancements for artists creating digital assets for our animated films. Requirements include strong software design/coding skills, specifically in C and Python, experience programming in a Linux environment, and a strong sense of detail and quality for the software you implement

• As an intern on the Build team, you'll be working on projects such as 3rd party installation automation, build system refactoring and bugs (make/cmake/SCons), and helping to improve developer workflow tools (build automation, continuous integration and deployment). Requirements include strong Python and Linux shell scripting skills, experience with Linux systems administration commands, and experience with modern developer tools/practices such as continuous integration, source control systems, and unit testing. A person who thrives in this role will also have great attention to detail and an enthusiasm for working with a team

• By developing or enhancing GUI and command-line utilities for 3D set construction and dressing, in this internship you will help prototype workflow enhancements for artists who are creating the backgrounds for our animated films. Requirements include strong software design/coding skills, specifically in C and Python, experience programming in a Linux environment, a strong sense of detail and quality for the software you implement. Experience in Maya highly preferred
EDITORIAL SOFTWARE INTERNSHIPS
Work closely other software engineers, you'll be involved in the creation, implementation and testing of new technology used by the Story, Art and Editorial departments. Experience in Swift, Objective-C, OSX and/or iOS development required; Knowledge of artist applications such as Photoshop or Final Cut Pro highly preferred.
RESEARCH INTERNSHIPS
Working closely with the research scientists and post docs in Pixar's Research department, you should have a high level understanding of mathematical algorithms and interest in developing, prototyping and testing new ones; Strong C/C skills; experience in GPU programming, real-time lighting, physical simulation, or geometry processing of large geometric databases preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
• To be eligible for an internship at Pixar, you must be at least a junior working towards a Bachelor's degree, a Master's student, or Ph.D. student. Recent graduates within one year of graduation are also eligible for internships
