Head of Inclusion and Diversity
SUMMARY:
Pixar’s Head of Inclusion and Diversity will create and lead Pixar’s inclusion and talent diversity strategy to support the studio’s goals of developing and nurturing an inclusive, aware and balanced workforce. This role will be critical in helping the studio achieve a strategic goal of provoking ways in which Pixar can expand creatively and better represent the underrepresented.
Pixar’s Head of Inclusion and Diversity will operate as an internal consultant and change agent to design, develop and execute programs and initiatives that engage Pixar’s leadership and the employee community. The end goal is to effectively embed diversity and inclusion values and practices into day-to-day operations and advance Pixar as an intentionally diverse and inclusive organization.
In addition to partnering with Pixar senior leadership to define strategic goals, s/he will partner with key collaborators across the organization to craft and carry out Pixar’s inclusion and talent diversity strategy, drive key initiatives, and generate interest & action in Pixar as an inclusive and innovative community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy
• Develop and define diversity & inclusion competencies for employees and leadership
• Track and analyze diversity data; make recommendations around diversity & inclusion initiatives and goals
• Coach executives and other leaders on inclusive leadership and the relationship between diversity and Pixar’s workforce and market/customer base
• Help focus mission/goals/values of the studio to address the needs of a diverse workforce and customer base
Values & Practice
• Develop and embed diversity & inclusion values across the company
• Promote Pixar’s use of inclusive language
• Advise and partner with PU, HR and other teams to integrate diversity & inclusion into employee experiences and Pixar’s learning curriculum
• Lead and manage key initiatives and programs
External Outreach
• Consult and advise the talent strategy team on talent attraction and talent development programs
• Forge external partnerships to create awareness and education about career opportunities in animation and film
• Partner with marketing and PR to integrate Pixar’s inclusion & diversity values in external messaging; promote Pixar’s commitment to diversity & inclusion
• Serve as a leading voice of diversity & inclusion throughout the studio; contribute to the creation of content on topics related to diversity & inclusion
• Remain current and informed regarding diversity & inclusion practices and developments in the field; participate in external events and conferences
Internal Development
• Audit current/existing policies and practices to reflect diversity & inclusion values
• Design and facilitate initiatives that create employee awareness, appreciation and engagement around inclusion & diversity
• Plan strategic and meaningful education events and activities that advance the mindset of diversity & inclusion
• Facilitate internal resource groups to support Pixar as an inclusive and diverse community
Social Responsibility
• Identify and influence corporate social responsibility goals and community investment/engagement efforts
• Guide programs and events; connect employees to organizations and outside communities
Most Importantly…
• Function as an ambassador and guardian of Pixar’s culture while influencing meaningful change
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum ten years professional work experience; minimum five years inclusion & diversity work experience
• Proven ability to work within an organization and engage others in creating a vision and philosophy around inclusion & diversity in support of the business
• Strong background and proven track record of developing, implementing, and leading inclusion & diversity initiatives within a business (preferably creative) environment; successfully engages others to enact change
• Influences through strong relationships; can manage a complex set of stakeholders
• Deep experience with the dynamics and challenges of complex organizational change
• Passionate storyteller; ability to engage a variety of audiences in topics of inclusion & diversity through meaningful and effective dialogue
• Experience working with minority/underrepresented communities
• Deep knowledge of societal issues of inequity and imbalance (both historic and current); current on global issues related to interculturalism and inclusivity
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills (proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of groups, e.g., artists, executives, the public, etc.)
