Full Time Job
Oversees the production of all Pixar home-entertainment releases and bonus content, and all promotional/marketing video content related to Pixar's feature film releases. This includes marketing videos from Disney partners and licensees, social media video content and sizzle videos. Balances creative vision and budgetary requirements with the goal of keeping Filmmakers, Marketing, and Disney Home Entertainment satisfied with end product.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Home Entertainment Production
• Partner with Disney's In-Home group to determine key dates, release slates, and overall goals for behind-the-scenes bonus content (e.g., filmmaker commentary, live action ''making of'' shorts, short-film animation, 2D animation shorts, short-form content etc.) for the in-home release of Pixar's films
• Work directly with the feature film director and producer to identify unique opportunities to the specific production to be featured with bonus content
• Lead bonus content reviews with filmmakers
• Oversee the full build out of key specifications for the bonus content projects (e.g., budget requirements, staffing requirements, licensing of the footage, talent recordings and interviews, coordinate with Disney Marketing for talent shoots, etc.)
• Work with Disney Synergy to identify cross-promotional opportunities for live-action content
• Work with Disney music team for licensing or recording music for the bonus content soundtrack, as needed
• Work with the Legal Department for all necessary clearances of images, voice talent, copyrights, etc.
• Oversee the quality control process for accurate content delivery; review the DVD/Blu-ray masters for each country and review all packaging
• Supervise DVD, Blu-ray and Digital menu creation
• Facilitate conversations with filmmakers and internal Promo team for production of original animated shorts for Home Entertainment
• Facilitate communication between Pixar's Post Production department and Disney's Operations group.
• Handle production dialogue recording sessions, and work with talent as needed
• As necessary, attend and facilitate music scoring sessions, picture mastering and sound mix sessions
Marketing Content
• Partner with Pixar and Disney Marketing teams to review and gain approvals for all Pixar-related content
• Partner closely with Disney and Pixar Marketing as well as feature production in creating show-specific ''Sizzle'' videos
• Partner closely with Pixar's Legacy groups to review marketing materials for products based on Pixar IP
People and Production Resource Management
• Provide leadership and guidance, inspired a shared vision, and be a touchstone for the crew
• Serve as a champion for the department and lead performance feedback and performance review process, actively address team and staffing issues, and help to problem-solve and resolve challenges and conflict
• Proactively review and assess production and staffing needs; mitigate risks, communicate shifts in production priorities and show decisions
• Plan for and manage all crew transitions, tackling any budget and resource issues that arise
• Manage the department's hiring and staffing process, spearhead recruiting pushes, and oversee related administrative details
• Coordinate with production Department Heads and leadership on other productions to acquire needed staff and facilitate their transitions between projects
• Provide mentorship and motivation to team leads and managers: assist them in supervising artists and balancing workload within department, and guide them through challenging stages of production, ups and downs, etc.
• Manage office space resources and equipment (machines/hardware/software) as needed
• Use interpersonal skills to resolve conflict, promote a collaborative production environment, and foster an atmosphere of cooperation and communication
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 5 years production management experience in live action, documentary and/or short form content production
• Post-production management experience in DVD/Blu-ray production, live action, documentary or equivalent
• Familiarity with all aspects of production, including budget & schedule management, staff and performance management
• Expert organizational and project management skills
• Superior team management and team building skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to use appropriate tone and attitude to diffuse conflict, provide solutions, and cultivate an engaging and productive working environment
• Proven ability to act decisively and sensitively under pressure
• Versatile and adaptable; able to work well under pressure/deadlines and negotiate an ever-changing production environment
• Tactful and diplomatic; successful in dealing with sensitive and confidential material
• Demonstrated ability to support and encourage artists in all disciplines
• Ability to pull together and focus a diverse team of artists
• Strong negotiation and partnering skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, MS Project or equivalent. Avid experience helpful
