Old City Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Salary is dependent on experience and abilities. Locals preferred.
Established Professional Costume House seeks artistic person to work within many aspects of a busy costume shop. Role could include working with customers, pulling costumes for theatres, creating visual displays, creating costumes, overseeing projects, working with make-up and wigs, and other generally creative costume related projects.
Qualified applicants may have experience in fields such as retail, fashion, or theatre. While costume experience is desirable, it is not mandatory. Retail experience in apparel should be part of your background. Being organized and ability to “self-start” are a must for this position. People who can think for themselves and who are creative are very welcome here.
Sewing skills, creative and artistic skills are not only necessary, but will be enhanced in this environment. You will be working with creative individuals who can show you things as well as expect to learn from you. We are hiring people who have more than “basic” hand sewing skills. You must be able to use a sewing machine to work with costumes. We provide many tools, paints, glues, mediums, and venues to express artistic flair. We also look for people who are grounded in the real world and realize that our customers need to get served in a timely manner too.
Essentially we are looking for a person who can work the ever-changing world of a costume shop. We are seeking a creative, yet focused person who can keep on top of the projects and will ensure that at the end of the day that the costumes look great and that the customers are happy.
If you think that you have a background in costumes, theatre, retail, organization, creative arts, and events and would like to apply it to the our world. Please contact us. We are only accepting applications via the internet. Please send your resume along with a cover letter and references (preferably in MS Word format)
No Phone calls are being accepted at this time.
Qualified candidates will be contacted to set up an interview.
We are hiring immediately and looking to fill multiple positions right away.
NOTE: We are not relocating applicants.
We have a great local talent pool, so Locals are preferred. (In other words… Please don't tell us that you are thinking of moving here someday… we are interviewing and hiring right now.)
