Full Time Unpaid Internship
Job Purpose
To assist the Phoenix Suns front office staff with day-to-day operations including scouting credential requests, maintaining basketball operations databases, background research and player analysis, tracking Suns’ draft right’s held prospects, updating player magnets, providing transportation for players, scouting small college and under the radar prospects, and assisting with administrative needs. Additionally, assist in salary cap management and planning, player and team statistical analysis and various projects as assigned.
Primary (Essential) Duties
• Create video edits of potential trade and free agent targets incorporating advanced stats and analytics
• Assist in maintaining the Suns scouting database
• Assist in updating documents and boards regarding player information
• Update staff on draft prospect performance through daily emails
• Study and chronical NBA player injuries
• Perform studies and analysis of D-League players/teams
• Create and edit various documents as needed
• Assist the video department with various projects
• Assist with administrative needs (i.e. scheduling, filing, generating daily reports, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong understand of video editing software (Synergy)
• Strong presentation skills and particular expertise in designing effective charts, graphs, and tables
• Excellent written and verbal skills, as well as ability to multi-task and prioritize
Experience/Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required
• NBA Basketball Operations experience highly recommended
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
• Maximum 30 hour per week; including some evenings and weekends
