Paragon Presents Talent Buyer
The Talent Buyer oversees talent acquisition for live entertainment bookings for Paragon Presents. The Talent Buyer is an exempt position that reports to the President of Paragon.
Essential Functions:
• Responsible for all aspects of talent buying/booking for live shows and/or festivals
• Negotiate contractual agreements between Paragon and agent/artists/artists' management
• Manage talent budget for Paragon booked venues
• Work closely with accounting to manage show reconciliations for events to include, but not limited to, production, promotion, and box office
• Identify prospects through networking, cold calls, research and building relationships with agents and managers
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to establish and maintain solid relationships with major talent agencies
• Ability to make timely and sound policy decisions
• Possess excellent organizational, written and oral communications skills
• Strong working knowledge of policies, procedures and practices used in talent buying
• Strong negotiating skills
• Strong understanding of event production requirements
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Filemaker Pro
• Ability to interpret and analyze event budgets, ticket sales' estimations, production costs, advertising requirements, hospitality and technical riders
• Ability to establish and maintain effective communication interdepartmentally
• Must be a customer service oriented team player
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Creative thinker, who is persistent and determined in finding solutions to meet goals
Requirements:
• Preferred Bachelor's degree, preferable emphasis in marketing, business administration, or other related field
• 5+ years' experience in the entertainment industry buying for large theaters, arenas, amphitheaters, and/or medium to large festivals
Physical Demands:
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms,
• Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision
Work Environment:
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud
