Job Scope:
The Digital Workflow Technician will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to internal personnel and customers. Must have a deep understanding and interest in all phases of on-set workflows including acquisition, grading, dailies generation and archiving as well as the ability to effectively and diplomatically resolve issues. In addition must be equipped to provide support during any digital-asset related issues that may arise during post-production.
Key Responsibilities:
Consulting during pre-production with Panavision Marketing staff, Camera Department and relevant production personnel, to gather specific information about project requirements so that recommendations can be made for an effective file workflow, and /or on-set grading process
During the camera prep, and once a production has begun shooting, it may be necessary to respond quickly to various problems, including camera recording errors, file transcoding issues and computer hardware or software failures. Addressing these issues may involve traveling to the set or a post facility, and will also require a good working relationship with vendors who provide related 3rd party hardware and software solutions to our customers, either through Panavision or directly.
Researching, evaluating and documenting relevant products/solutions.
Maintain awareness of competing products and services. Recommend changes to improve competitive strategy.
Actively seek out, and pass along customer feedback regarding our products or services.
Contribute to formal and informal Panavision Training programs.
Collaborate with other Panavision staff and Upper Management to help innovate new products and solutions.
Take a leadership role in maintaining and improving the PV Woodland Hills digital screening system.

Skills/Experience Required:
Technical:
Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking and storage.
Expert working knowledge of on-set workflow practices, hardware and software. Previous Digital Imaging Technician experience a plus.
Good working knowledge of Post Production workflows and Post Production departmental structure.
Practical knowledge of professional editing software.
Ability to effectively use and respond to problems with professional color grading software.
Working knowledge of current digital cinema cameras; setup, capabilities and support.
Expert knowledge of professional video codecs and file types, both camera native and deliverables.
Working knowledge of digital monitoring and standards. Projection systems knowledge a plus.
General knowledge of all Panavision digital offerings.
General understanding of basic optical and photographic principles.
Personal Attributes:
Personable and works effectively as part of a team.
Able to learn new concepts quickly.
Ability to work well with, and express ideas to both technical, and non-technical personnel.
Highly self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
Able to trouble shoot, and solve problems creatively.
Ability to stay calm, and work effectively in stressful situations.
Well organized with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Flexible with changing working hours and willing to adapt on short notice to meet business needs and the needs of the customer.
Ability to travel on short notice.
Must have a reliable vehicle, valid California Driver's licenses, and the ability to drive to production locations in, and around the Los Angeles Area.
