Full Time Unpaid Internship
In honor of Brandon Bernier and his talent and love of engineering, the Pac-12 Networks has established the Brandon Bernier Engineering & Technology Internship in his name.
The Engineering Operations Intern will be a part of the Engineering & Technology department. In this role, the Engineering Operations Intern will work within a progressive company and a cutting-edge, dynamic department and be responsible for assisting in the daily activity of supporting the underlying enabling enterprise and broadcast infrastructures as well as technology research and development. This is a 12-month internship.
Areas of Focus
• Network (WAN & LAN) infrastructure focused on signal processing and transportation
• Application of IT/IP/Cloud processing technologies
• Content Distribution and Production technologies and platforms
• Media asset management
• General desktop security and support
• Wiring protocols and documentation
Duties
• Assist in supporting the day-to-day activities of the department by:
• Taking direction from multiple sources, such as Systems Engineering, Systems Support, Content Distribution, Media Management, and Production departments, to respond to needs and issues.
• Participate in the evaluation and application of new technologies.
• Systems Administration, at a basic level, and the set-up and configure equipment, such as satellite receivers and media recording devices, to support day-today operations.
• Assist in the design and fabrication of equipment used in the field to support production activities.
• Shadow engineering staff in the execution of their duties.
• Work as a project manager, lead or second on a project within an area of the candidate’s expertise.
• Investigate, develop and eventually implement solutions to problems, issues or situations that foster efficiency or improve on-air product.
• Develop an understanding of the existing plant, underlying infrastructure and overall production and content
Requirements for Pac-12 Internship:
• Current Pac-12 university student
• Minimum GPA of 3.3. Finalists will be required to submit transcripts
• Passionate about Pac-12 and collegiate sports
• Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, on-site
• Student-Athletes preferred, not required
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Google Apps
• Desire to learn more about multimedia sports production and distribution
• Ability to work non-traditional hours: nights, weekends and holidays when necessary
• Must be able to present authorization of your legal right to work in the United States
