The Head of Production & Operations reports to the President of the Pac-12 Networks and is responsible for managing the Production, Talent & Development, Production Operations, and Network Operations departments.
The Head of Production & Operations’ fiscal responsibilities includes overseeing the production and operational costs associated with the management and production of Pac-12’s seven TV networks and related businesses. Pac-12 Networks is headquartered in San Francisco where all studio productions originate. In addition, Pac-12 produces 850 live sports events from more than 100 venues across 12 universities, spanning 6 states.
The Head of Production & Operations is also responsible for participating in the long range planning of the network’s operations, productions and announce team, ensuring we are delivering the highest quality while incorporating innovation, efficiencies, and collaboration between the network, the conference, and our university partners.
Key areas reporting to the head of Production & Operations include:
• Remote Production, Studio Production, Features Production, Digital Production, Remote & Studio Post Production, Remote & Studio Crewing, Remote & Studio Production Operations, Travel, Mobile Unit Facilities, Pac-12 Facilities, Talent, and Network Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work closely with the president of Pac-12 Networks to maintain sound business practices, excellent communications, implement new policies, participate in strategic and long-range planning and foster a progressive & inclusive culture.
• Manage the heads of Production, Production Operations, Network Operations, and Talent & Development by providing leadership, transparency, strategic guidance and implementing best practices.
• Oversee the negotiations and management of contracts with production personnel, announcers, technical facility providers and other vendors associated with Production & Operations.
• Work with Pac-12’s legal counsel on labor relations to assure we are in compliance across our 6 state footprint in all Production & Operations business, including meeting with union leaders and representatives, to help maintain consistent communications.
• Work closely with the Pac-12 Conferences’ Event Management department, the Networks’ Engineering & Technology department and the university event liaisons to ensure remote venues at all 12 universities are TV Ready and the remote production operations run smoothly.
• Work closely with the Programming department in their scheduling and coordinating of the live event, studio and post-produced content to create efficiencies and foster excellent communications and planning.
• Integrate and work closely with the Networks’ Finance, Legal, and Human Resources departments to help develop “best practices” and create efficient, accountable, sustainable workflow and processes across departments that affect Production & Operations.
• Help create and manage the budgets for all departments reporting into Production & Operations.
• Work closely with the head of Engineering & Technology, head of Digital Product & Business and Programming to ensure a coordinated effort in growing our media company.
• Present annual budget, business plans and strategic plan to Network senior staff.
• Represent Pac-12 Networks at conferences, on panels, and at our 12 universities, as needed.
• Teach staff and Pac-12 university students best practices in Production & Operations.
