Assistant Director of Sales - Oregon State University
The Assistant Director of Sales will be placed within the athletic department at Oregon State University and will have responsibility assisting in the management of the sales staff and increasing ticket and fundraising revenue by soliciting season, group and mini plan tickets with Account Executives under the supervision of the Pac-12 Sales. The Assistant Director of Sales will help lead overall ticket sales and service strategy for the on-campus staff. The Assistant Director of Sales understands revenue generation is the priority and number one goal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the Management of outbound ticket sales and outbound donation solicitation
• The Assistant Director of Sales must help successfully manage a team of Account Executives who are assigned to sell season tickets, group tickets, premium seats, and solicit donations. The Assistant Director of Sales is also expected to participate personally in the sales and solicitation process when possible.
• Performance on outbound ticket sales and donation solicitation is measured by the amount of revenue generated, number of tickets sold, and number of donors added on an annual basis.
• The Assistant Director of Sales is expected to help achieve revenue goals that are established by the Pac-12 Sales Lead in conjunction with the Athletic Department in order to maintain employment in good standing. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Sales, and the staff under supervision, must follow guidelines about confidentiality of data and NCAA compliance.
• Management of outbound and inbound customer service
• The Assistant Director of Sales is responsible for all aspects of customer service that are related to Athletics tickets, and certain aspects of donor relations for members.
• Training of staff
• The Assistant Director of Sales is responsible for training staff to be successful at sales and service in conjunction with Pac-12 Sales Lead.
• Hiring of staff
• In collaboration with the Pac-12 Sales Lead, the Assistant Director of Sales is responsible for helping identify and hiring excellent candidates for open Account Executive positions.
• Scheduling of staff
• Manage the scheduling of staff– so proper levels of staffing are achieved and the staffing budget is managed appropriately.
• Management of commission billing
• Keep track of sales revenue and manage the formal assignment of credit so Account Executives are compensated appropriately for the revenue they each generate.
• Other duties as assigned
• On occasion, the Assistant Director of Sales is expected to assist with duties that are not directly related to sales and service, such as ticket operations tasks or assisting with event duties.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and sales experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of successful ticket sales and/or sponsorship
• Must be familiar with and have a strong passion for collegiate sports
• Must possess an aggressive, competitive and dedicated attitude.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with both internal and external clients at all levels of the organization.
• Results-oriented approach to both selling and sales management.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and manage a dual role requiring both management of a staff, as well as that of numerous business relationships in a professional manner
• Must be able to lead persuasively, train sales and service people for effective performance, and create a strong sales and service culture in the organization.
• Must be able to successfully collaborate with others in the organization, especially the Pac-12 Sales Lead and university contacts to achieve business goals.
• Must be able to organize priorities for the benefit of the overall organization. For example, the resources dedicated to sales, donation solicitation, and service must be effectively managed.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
