Full Time Job
PMK*BNC is seeking an experienced Public Relations professional to work alongside our client, a luxury auto maker, in their Virginia offices. This position is a unique opportunity to work in-house with this world class client, and act as a liaison with our account team in New York City.
Client Engagement
• Attend and observe internal meetings with client and other departments including training and marketing to leverage any PR opportunities happening throughout the company
• Anticipate client communication challenges and develop proactive recommendations for agency leads
• Contribute to development & implementation of communication strategies
• Develop understanding of the client’s business strategy, key markets and global influencers
• Use your knowledge of automotive terms, extract information from meetings, which can be used to market the client
• Interact with cross-functional departments on site as well as partner agency liaisons
• Report all information to the NY Account team
Media and Influencer Engagement
• Serve as day-to-day contact for media/influencers
• Conduct proactive outreach for media events, marketing campaigns, product launches and executive visibility
• Oversee management of reactive requests and garner coverage
• Engage with auto media regularly by responding to phone calls and emails with product / brand related questions.
Writing Skills
• Draft auto-focused press releases
• Knowledge of sales releases and earnings reporting
• Provide recap and analysis of campaigns and coverage
• Write pitch letters to be used by the account team for public relations and marketing purposes
Strategic Thinking
• Contribute to brainstorms and strategic campaign development
• Assist in creating high-level traditional and social media strategies that are integrated into communication plans
• Contribute to plans and own executing portions of a plan
• Identify opportunities for cross-team integration
Reporting
• Engage with client monitoring divisions regarding client projects & deliverables
• Provide timely analysis of coverage results and trends
Leadership
• Gain management skills by mentoring junior level staff
• Be a peer resource to staff, interns and new hires
• Manage up to senior staff
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, or related major
• 3 years of experience as a publicist, print/online reporter or journalist; automotive and/or technology industry is a major plus
• Knowledge of automotive terms, and automotive industry news and trends
• Excellent writing skills
• Ability to interact with C-Level executives, and executives at all levels
• Ability to work autonomously
• High level of accountability
• Experience working on a team
• Availability to travel 15%
