Ovation Research Analyst: Job Posting
Description
Ovation, America's only arts network (avail in 50mil+ homes), is looking for a Research Analyst to support the Programming department in determining acquisition best practices, scheduling patterns, and time-shifted viewing, as well as spearheading network-wide Competitive Intelligence. This role will also help support digital analytics depending on bandwidth and needs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytic background, expertise with Excel and Nielsen ratings systems, be detail oriented and have the ability to handle a large volume of work under short deadlines. Background and interest in TV and Movies is also useful.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze performance of competing networks to provide context for program planning and scheduling
• Help Team synthesize data, contribute to presentations and pitches, and draft strategic written analysis on a variety of Research topics
• Create and maintain a number of reporting databases critical to programming and scheduling initiatives
• Support in the production of Ratings Projections in service of strategic Program scheduling and planning
• Utilize syndicated data systems, including Nielsen TV ratings and other consumer tracking sources, to support the Research team in the creation of recurring reports
• Analysis of network performance on digital and social platforms
Requirements
• Knowledge of Nielsen service tools and other ratings-based systems, including NPower, Star, SNL Kagan, related systems (MeMRI, OTX: Ipsos)
• Prior paid or intern experience in Research at Cable/Broadcast TV, media, agency, research vendor or related business, preferred
• Proven analytic abilities, as well as excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to provide examples of past works
• Strong database management skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Filemaker Pro
• Awareness of competitive TV landscape and emerging channels and technologies
• Passion for Media, with knowledge of TV and Movie titles and their market performance
• Highly organized team player, with a professional demeanor, detail-oriented, and ability to work under deadline
• BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, Media, Business, or related field, required
• Must be willing to work in Los Angeles, CA
