'Larry King Now' is an Emmy-nominated entertainment news show online and on TV in various countries worldwide. We are looking for hardworking and creative interns for the Fall 2017 semester to work with our public relations team. This is not a coffee and copies position. You will be working closely with our publicist to assist with writing pitches/blogging, compiling press clippings, finding media contacts and keeping up to date with what's going on in the entertainment industry & current trends. Ideal candidates are self-starters, comfortable shifting gears, and eager to learn about various aspects of the television publicity process. Some sort of background/education in journalism, PR, marketing, and/or TV is also preferred, though not necessary. If you want to learn from an ICON, the Larry King, then this is the perfect internship for you.
Qualities we are looking for in an intern:
- Writing skills and detail-oriented, able to assist with press releases & blogging
- Ambitious self-starter who isn't afraid to share outside-the-box ideas
- Genuinely interested in TV, PR, marketing, celebrities, events, and pop culture
- Proficient in: PR databases/applications like Cision/ Vocus, Microsoft Excel & Word, Adobe PhotoShop, Google Docs and DropBox
- Can commit to at least two (but prefer three) days per week
- Cision, Vocus & PhotoShop knowledge is highly preferred
- Communication, Journalism, English, Marketing, and PR majors preferred
- Past agency, studio or network experience within PR/marketing depts preferred
Scope of work:
- Research - Staying up to date on industry news and trends, creating media lists and finding contacts
- Press Clippings - Daily show pickup and coverage, reading through daily and weekly industry magazines
- Brainstorming - Coming up with new ideas for campaigns, promotions, giveaways and pitching talent/guests to media
- Brand Marketing - Assist with potential branded integrations/sponsorships for our tv/digital series and/or company wide
- Events - Potential opportunities to attend photo shoots, interviews, and red carpet events
- Production - Will also help with on-set production needs like assisting and wrangling talent, arranging behind the scene content, sitting in on tapings/editing and taking notes
