KMIR (NBC) / KPSE (My TV) in beautiful Palm Springs is building a weather department and we're looking for the best people in the country to do it.
It's sunny and beautiful here almost all the time. We experience extreme heat, but we also see wind, dust storms, monsoonal flows, and crazy rainstorms….in other words, when the weather changes, it's a big deal.
We're looking for people who know how to tell a dynamic weather story across multiple platforms, using our state-of-the-art weather systems. TV is just one part of it; You must be skilled in social media, engaging the audience online and incorporating that into your TV presentations, and vice versa.
You will (Responsibilities):
• Be an outstanding communicator, delivering the day's weather story and making the audience care even when it's almost the same as it was yesterday.
• Build your own daily forecasts, analyzing information and data from weather sources.
• Be or become an expert in WSI Max Weather systems and all its features, so you not only use it to the fullest extent on television, online, and social media, but you can train others to do the same.
• Manage our weather messaging across all platforms.
• Create distinctly different presentations for multiple segments in newscasts across different dayparts on our 2 stations, well beyond just changing graphics and logos.
• Collaborate with news managers to champion weather coverage and strategies.
• Report and have experience in LIVE field reporting.
• Embrace your role as a station ambassador, making frequent appearances at events and participating in promotional efforts on behalf of the stations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by station management.
• Most importantly, have a great attitude, passion to compete and win, and be a newsroom leader.
You Should (Qualifications):
• Have 1-2 years previous television experience, ideally in a weathercasting capacity.

If this sounds like you, and you'd like to live in one of the most beautiful places in America, reach out to us.
