Overview and Responsibilities
This position serves as lead design creative for all Nickelodeon Preschool property promotion and Nick Jr. brand design work across multiple platforms including on-air, off-air marketing, digital, and social media.
Candidate must have exceptional design taste and be able to produce best-in-class creative. She/he should have a desire to promote and celebrate Nickelodeon’s preschool content in a joyful, playful, thoughtful way. She/he must be able to handle multiple projects across a multitude of platforms while focusing on high-level conception and execution. The candidate will partner with the SVP of Nick Jr. Brand Creative on all creative content strategies and branding under the design standard set by the SVP Creative Director of Nickelodeon’s Creative Resource Group.
Responsibilities
• Oversee all design/visual applications of the preschool look across all platforms-- show launches, stunts, on-Air identity work, digital content, YouTube, social media, etc.
• Upholds the design standard – originality, innovation and high aesthetic sensibility – as set and articulated by SVP, Creative Director Brand Design, NCR.
• Works closely with SVP of Preschool Brand creative to ensure design supports the strategy and story for campaigns and projects.
• Lead and manage a team of Art Directors, Senior and Junior level designers--defining, directing, and delegating their work. Responsible for team’s talent recruitment, development, training and retention.
• Partner with VP of Animation to develop creative innovations and solutions.
• Work with the NCR property design team to ensure that preschool launch graphics are compatible to overarching property style guides set forth by NCR.
• Develops, implements and oversees (via creative direction) branding systems for use across all LOBs.
• Partners with the SVP of Advertising Creative to ensure off air/channel advertising creative for Nick Jr property initiatives meet design standards.
• Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with all Nickelodeon departments including all marketing teams, production units and creative departments.
• Clearly articulates design strategy, scope and plan of execution for all work to the SVP, EVP, Executive Team and all other project stakeholders.
• Creates a culture that encourages risk taking and places a premium on ideas, creativity and innovation.
• Responsible for finding and building working relationships with new creative and production vendors, as well as strengthening partnerships with current vendors and graphic designers.
• Responsible for developing pool of freelance creative who can be activated to help with specific projects.
• Develops a strong and diverse skill set across the group and ensures that all contributions are valued and fosters overall team career growth.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of brand design experience, mainly with experience in TV branding and promotion, but also digital and social media content creation.
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience leading both in-house and freelance design teams in development and creation of style guides and branding systems
Additional Qualifications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, superior conceptual and critical thinking abilities
• Ability to provide articulate and effective creative notes and other feedback
• Proven ability to translate strategic goals into innovative design
• Ability to operate quickly and calmly within a large, complex, high pressure, dynamic environment, while setting and maintaining key priorities
