Full Time Job
Summary: The Associate Editor will take an active role in the editorial process of all Yankees publications, including Yankees Magazine, the annual Yankees yearbook, commemorative programs, fan guides and other projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Responsible for copy editing and fact-checking
• Contribute story ideas and write multiple articles for each issue of Yankees Magazine, which could include a feature story (between 1,000–2,000 words), news briefs and reports
• Compile statistics and/or content for the scorecard as well as other recurring sections in Yankees Magazine
• Business-related responsibilities, including: disseminating publications to contributors and Yankees personnel; processing invoices for all writers, photographers, graphic design vendors; and maintaining records of publications revenue
Qualifications
and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or related field
• Professional copy-editing and fact-checking experience with a strong attention to details
• Knowledge of grammar, punctuation and AP style
• Experience covering sports for a newspaper, magazine, website or related media outlet
• Working knowledge of baseball and the Yankees (current and historic)
• Ability to meet all deadlines
• Flexible work schedule and ability work in an outdoor stadium environment
